 WOMAN = LIFE 

 

On March 8, 2026, International Women's Day, we will be happy to welcome you to a musical performance-concert with the theme of the life and songs of the women of Rebetiko.

Rebetiko is a genre that was born out of poverty, prohibition, struggles, hopes, resilience, but also the special position of women who dared to sing their truths in such difficult times (100 years ago).

Through the rebetiko music that we love, but also with the majority of our orchestra members being women, we felt the need to honor the women of Rebetiko with this performance and to share known or unknown stories through their songs.

For us, of course, this event is more than a simple cultural event. It is a powerful statement against patriarchy, violence and all forms of oppression.

We thus want to dedicate our performance to women everywhere, in solidarity with their struggle for freedom, respect, equality and the rights that have been acquired through struggles and uprisings all these years, which in 2026 should not be up for discussion.

Am 8. März 2026, dem Internationalen Frauentag, laden wir Sie herzlich zu einem Konzert mit Musikdarbietung ein, das dem Leben und den Liedern der Rebetiko-Frauen gewidmet ist.

Rebetiko ist ein Genre, das aus Armut, Verboten, Kämpfen, Hoffnungen und Widerstandskraft entstand, aber auch aus der besonderen Stellung der Frauen, die es wagten, in solch schwierigen Zeiten (vor 100 Jahren) ihre Wahrheit zu besingen.

Durch die Rebetiko-Musik, die wir lieben, und da die Mehrheit unserer Orchestermitglieder Frauen sind, verspürten wir das Bedürfnis, die Rebetiko-Frauen mit dieser Aufführung zu ehren und bekannte wie unbekannte Geschichten durch ihre Lieder zu erzählen.

Für uns ist diese Veranstaltung natürlich mehr als nur ein kulturelles Ereignis. Sie ist ein starkes Statement gegen Patriarchat, Gewalt und jede Form von Unterdrückung.

Wir widmen unseren Auftritt daher allen Frauen weltweit, in Solidarität mit ihrem Kampf für Freiheit, Respekt, Gleichberechtigung und die Rechte, die sie sich in all den Jahren durch Kämpfe und Aufstände erkämpft haben und die im Jahr 2026 nicht mehr zur Debatte stehen sollten.

ΓΥΝΑΙΚΑ = ΖΩΗ 

 

Στις 8 Μαρτίου του 2026, Παγκόσμια Ημέρα της Γυναίκας, θα χαρούμε να σας υποδεχτούμε σε μια μουσική παράσταση-συναυλία με Θέμα τη ζωή και τα τραγούδια των γυναικών του Ρεμπέτικου.

Το ρεμπέτικο είναι ένα είδος που γεννήθηκε μέσα απο τη φτώχεια, την απαγόρευση, τους αγώνες, τις ελπίδες, την ανθεκτικότητα, αλλά και την ξεχωριστή θέση των γυναικών που τόλμησαν να τραγουδήσουν τις αλήθειές τους σε τόσο δύσκολες στιγμές (πριν από 100 χρόνια).

Μέσα απο τη ρεμπετικη μουσική που αγαπάμε, αλλά και με την πλειοψηφία των μελών της ορχήστρας μας να είναι γυναίκες, νιώσαμε την ανάγκη να τιμήσουμε τις γυναίκες του Ρεμπέτικου με αυτή την παράσταση και να μοιραστούμε γνωστές ή άγνωστες ιστορίες μέσα απο τα τραγούδια τους.

Για εμάς, φυσικά, αυτή η εκδήλωση είναι κάτι περισσότερο από ένας απλό πολιτιστικό γεγονός. Είναι μια ισχυρή δήλωση κατά της πατριαρχίας, της βίας και όλων των μορφών καταπίεσης.

Θέλουμε έτσι να αφιερώσουμε την παράστασή μας στις γυναίκες παντού, αλληλέγγυες-οι στον αγώνα τους για ελευθερία, σεβασμό, ισότητα και τα δικαιώματα που έχουν αποκτηθεί μέσω αγώνων και εξεγέρσεων όλα αυτά τα χρόνια, που το 2026 δεν θα έπρεπε να τίθενται υπό συζήτηση.
